It's been a little time since my last news update, but not much has
been going on regarding
Team stuff other then getting things ready for our first
Team race of the year, San Dimas. But here I am, back in the racing again
and loving it. Things have changed a little, but not as much as I thought. Just up north from San Diego about 2
hours, just a small 3 day stage race starting with an Up Hill TT going up
Glendora Mountain. The guy's flew in today (Thursday), brought their bikes
with them and my work began getting them ready for the first stage.
Cleaning bikes, replacing whatever needs to be replaced, taking care of all the
riders needs to build their confidenc
e
in me as their new mechanic.
Next morning, get up and head out to the trailer to see how my children
(bikes) are doing after their flight to the USA. This is what I get to
look
at each morning before a race. Eye candy for all you roadies.
So once again, finish up where I left off from last night, the riders are
going out for a 10AM ride and then back to relax until the race start this
afternoon. First rider off at 4:21PM for the climb up Glendora
Mountain. Ben Day, one of our riders, is rider #! so he goes off last.
But all was good, he came away with the race win so we start tomorrow the
road race of 135km, with the race leaders Jersey.
Day 2 Road Race, not quit the early morning start, but still had plenty to
do trying to get all the TT bikes ready for Redlands next week. The
FLY V boys looked great on the front of the pack all day keeping things
under control. We had one of our riders crash out which is never a
good thing, and being part of the Team, you start to feel that these guys
are one of your boys and that hurts. But he's okay, and it is a chance
you take when you're racing at these kinds of speeds. So the day went
well and all
was
under control and Ben Day is still in the race leaders jersy.
Day 3, the Criterium. Same plan as yesterday, keep thing under control and keep Ben safe from any accidents. So where's the best place to do that, but on the front of the pack. What a pretty site when the boys come around the corner each lap and you see all you Team on the front. It was a victorious day and the Team did what they needed to do in keeping Ben safe. It would have been nice if we could have come out with a win as well, but maybe next week at Redlands.
Until then,
