Last trip to Idaho

Here I am, all hooked up and ready to go.  It's been about 3 years that I've talked about making the move up here and now it's finally reality.  I LOVE IT.  Sure, it's going to take some adjustments, just with the clothes I have to wear.  Pack away the shorts and T-shirts and break out the Jeans and Jackets.  But finally, I can't believe I'm sitting in Idaho doing this article.

The distance is never a deal when I drive so much with the Teams, but this trip was different knowing that I wouldn't be going back to San Diego in a few weeks or even a few months.  I've been in San Diego pretty much my whole life and everyone, all the places, and my contacts, are from being in San Diego all these years.  Making the move to Idaho is something I've wanted to do for the past 3 years.

About 6 years ago, we purchased some property just north of Coeur d'Alene (CDA) and it's beautiful.  First trip, I pulled up my 5th wheel and started setting things up.  First thing I came to realize is there isn't a concrete pad for me to park on and everything around me is dirt.  So I quickly realized that I was going to have to build a deck so I don't keep dragging the dirt inside with me.  Thanks to the fact the first month I was here, the weather was nice and I could get out and do this.

All my neighbors are great and I was able to borrow some tools because I still had my other Cargo trailer up in San Diego.  So first things first, made my first big run to Home Depot, bought the supplies I needed, loaded the truck and got busy.  After laying down about 68 of these blocks, doing the leveling and laying out the foundation I was under way and the deck started coming together.  Two day's later, this is what I have.  A nice deck, somewhere I can sit down, have coffee in the morning, relax, and watch the Sunsets in the evening.

After getting this project completed, I flew back down to San Diego for my fathers Memorial Service (RIP Stan Plummer you'll forever be missed).  So for the second trip up to Idaho, it was with my Motorcycle.  Another nice trip and took some of the smaller side roads I had been wanting to travel.  I love riding the motorcycle, but after doing 1000 miles, I didn't seem to find the joy in riding cross country.  Between that and the feeling of wanting to get back to Idaho, I decided to bypass some of the things I wanted to do and decided to save it for another time and another article.  So straight up to Idaho I went.  I also knew that I still had one more trip to San Diego before all my moving would be complete.

Here it is, the middle of September and down to Las Vegas for INTERBIKE.  After INTERBIKE, it's back down to San Diego to pack up the last of my things, hook up my cargo trailer and make one last drive back up to Idaho.  It's a two day drive, 1300 miles one way.  I left San Diego on Thursday and was here Friday around 9:00pm. But the next morning when I woke up, my new neighbors were out front ready to greet me.  You don't see this out your front window in an RV Park in San Diego.  It's now about a month later, and the weather is starting to turn, I have a few weeks before they say it's going to snow so I have things to do like burning off some of the wood on my property so that it doesn't become a big choirs at a later time.  So all day, it's liming trees and burning wood.  But by the end of the day, it's all worth it.  Just another beautiful sunset and a warm fire.  Yes, it's going to take some getting used to, but it's all going to be worth it when every night you get to look at this from your own deck.

Well, thanks for reading my stories, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them.  I can't believe I'm finally in Idaho.  As they say, if you keep dreaming and thinking about it, it will come true.  Be careful what you wish for, but don't ever give up on your dreams.  Dreams are what we live for and is what keeps us getting up each morning.  Just because it doesn't happen right away, you can be sure that you're one day closer.

See you out on the road with my next adventure.  You can also see all the pictures on my Facebook page just by clicking this link, make sure you like my page while you're there.
